It was relatively late in life, in my early thirties, that I discovered poetry. I have one of my main buddhist teachers to thank for this.
At the time he was losing his sight and learning his favourite poems by-heart. On retreat at the beginning of each session I would perch on my cushion, ears leaning into the space for the sound of his deep tones vibrating these pearls to us.
I’ve been totally besotted with the wisdom and heart of poetry ever since.
May they touch you like they touch me. I’ll keep adding more bit by bit.
